Camp Woodie
A Tough Personal Dilemma

By Tred Barta

I’ve worked super hard my entire life as have you - now in the fifth year of my T.V. show “The Best and Worst of Tred Barta” on Versus, I get about 35,000 e-mails a month, in addition Barta Iso Aviation which I own, specializes in buying, selling and leasing corporate aircraft, I write for six magazines almost every month and have penned my article titled “For the Record” on the back page of Salt Fishing Magazine now going on 23 years. Anni and I travel twice a month somewhere. I spend over 50% of the very little personal time I have raising money for underprivileged kids. I awake at 5 AM every day. Workout, shoot the long bow, write my articles, feed the horses, muck out the stalls and work till 6 P.M. selling planes, I’m in bed 90% of the time by 8:30 P.M.

So when David Wieliki and Don Quattlebaum approached me about supporting Camp Woodie, I was skeptical how it would affect my life.

I believe that in many ways, the county which I love and adore, the United States of America, is in a crisis. I believe in prayer in schools, I believe in The Ten Commandments, I believe in flying the American flag at every public place, schools and colleges, I believe in reciting the pledge of Allegience to the United States of America in school, I believe strongly in our 2nd Amendment Rights and I believe in the values that hunting fishing teaches our kids in the great outdoors as a valuable lesson for life.

Camp Woodie more than any other cause I know supports these values to a tee, conservation, reliance on each other, an appreciation for the ebb and flow of nature, our wildlife and game as a renewable resource, team work, that’s Camp Woodie.

Today ‘s society is confusing – the line in the sand appears to move every day as it relates to our morality, our ethics and our values.

The sun rises in the East and sets in the West, that’s a constant, the tide changes every eight hours that’s a constant. The poultry, meat and fish we eat were harvested by someone, it was cleaned, skinned, filleted by someone. These are facts not pipe dreams – food does not come from nature wrapped in cellophane with microwaveable cooking instructions.

Camp Woodie has a strong moral fiber wrapped around all of its activities. Honor, code, morals and conservation are everywhere. Their scholarship program sponsors urban kids who never had to know the difference between East and West and in many cases right from wrong.

Camp Woodie has been so successful that many other States use it as a model for outdoor youth programs.

What am I saying everyone, despite my workload I carry everyday; I am compelled to support Camp Woodie period, at any expense whether it be money or time.

I beg you I implore you to join Anni and I not only in the Barta Camp Woodie fishing Tournament, but to join our fund raising efforts. My name is Tred Barta I cow to no man. I live a life committed to the following slogans, “Families who hunt and fish together stay together” and “Nothing is more important than the way we treat each other”.

Camp Woodie represents the value of our great country, it teaches everything our children need to know in life to have the confidence to proceed with their dreams.

Please join us for an incredible Tournament that’s affordable to all. Whether you own a 19ft Mako or a 70ft Viking at our Tournament no one is excluded and everyone is included. I can’t wait to see you – we’re going to have a ball – Moms, Dads, Kids, grandparents, and friends, I’ll see you under the Big Tent at Tournament time.

Till next Tide,
Proud to serve Camp Woodie
